Upcoming Social For Newly Elected California Legislators

On Friday, September 26th, newly elected California Senate members will meet for a social hour. During this event, members will have a chance to get to know one another outside of the formal setting of the chamber. It is an opportunity to start building the relationships that will shape committee work, cooperation, and the legislative session as a whole.

Also expected to attend the event are lobbyists, including the California Labor Federation and the California Teachers Association. While social events like this one are often informal, legislators should be mindful of how lobbyists use these gatherings to build influence. This is an opportunity for senators to listen, ask questions, and begin considering how outside groups might align or conflict with their policy goals.

The social hour will serve as both a celebration and a preview of the work to be accomplished this term.
